Earthbound Plants

Earthbound Plants have identified that choosing plants is a potentially overwhelming experience for the majority of the general public and aim to make selecting stock much easier but trying to solve their potential problems first and give suggestions on what they can plant.

Effective POS has QR codes that takes Garden Centre customers to the B2C where they can learn more about the plants and be inspired by the options available. This has also been used as a useful training tool for Garden Centre staff too.

The aim is for customers to their plants with confidence that they will thrive.

New Additions

Earthbounds’ Collections are an ever evolving resource and a reflection of typical garden centre customer questions.  To keep the collections interesting and topical, our growers at Innocenti & Mangoni Piante and Provender keep a keen eye out for new plant introductions that fit into the collection criteria and to increase the range on offer to garden centre users.  

This year at the GPE we are introducing some new lines to the Water Smart Collection:

• Lagerstroemia Black Diamond Shell Pink
• Lagerstroemia Rhapsody in Pink
• Dianella tasmanica Silver Fox 

Water Smarts Collection

To meet the criteria for the Water Smarts collection a plant has to be drought tolerant with built-in resilience to dry conditions. 

Lagerstroemia

These new Lagerstroemia are more suitable to the UK climate, are extremely heat resistant and all flower from June to August / September, a month earlier than most other varieties. 

• Heat resistant plants
• Fade resistant flowers
• Drought tolerant
• Thrive in full sun
• Ideal for dry soil and hot climates
• Earlier flowering
• Three months of flowers from June to August/ Sept
• Coastal tolerant
• All are smaller than average, perfect for smaller gardens.
• Hardy to between -10 ºC to -18 ºC dependant on variety 

Lagerstroemia Black Diamond Best Red  

• Strong red flowers
• Almost black foliage
• H. 1.5 – 2m 
• Hardy to -18°C
• Resistant to extreme heat 
• Upright bushy habit

• Shell pink flowers appear in large numbers
• Almost black foliage
• H. 1.5-2m
• Hardy to -18°C
• Resistant to extreme heat

Lagerstroemia Rhapsody in Pink

• Deep pink flowers
• Foliage emerges maroon changing to green
• H. 1.5-2m
• Hardy to -10°C
• Upright, vase-shaped habit
• Good multi stem tree option

Dianella’s tasmanica Silver Fox

• Striking silver-blue leaves with a white margin
• Blue flowers in May, June and July
• Purple berries in autumn
• H. 40-60cm  S. 30-50cm
• Strong root system
