PHOTINIA x fraseri 'Cassini' Evergreen shrub with foliage that starts bright pink, then turns blue-green with white variegation with a pink edge. Best planted in full sun. Height 2.5 - 4m Care of Topiary Standards Trim annually with topiary shears or hedge-cutters in early or late summer to keep specimen in shape. Faster growing species may need to be trimmed twice or more each season. Suckers and unwanted branches can also be removed from the stems. Fertiliser such as Growmore can be applied once a year in the spring if desired, to help maintain the plant's vigour and appearance. Topiary can be grown in pots or containers but you need to make sure the pot is big enough for the specimen, and is well weighted to prevent it from falling over if the container has dried out, or there are high winds. The compost will need to be refreshed every 2 to 3 years. Topiary can suffer from Pests & Diseases. Uses: Grown as a hedge on a leg, pleached, or as a statement plant in a formal setting
Climate/Position: Full sun or partial shade. Some shelter advisable to avoid young shoots being scorched by late frost
Height/Spread: Will not increase in height, but will get bigger over time
Soil Requirements: Any soil but must be well drained
Pruning: Train new growth in to the framework, when there are no gaps in the frame then trim annually with topiary shears or hedge-cutters in early or late summer to keep specimen in shape
